IV. To Fulfill Social Responsibility
With its University Social Responsibility Program, NIU has set up 3 healthy farming bases, developed food and farming activities as well as sustainable farming experience activities. Credited to the smart and technology-based APP designed, students are led to access to the local communities/recreational agricultural area to partner with young farmers. NIU also assisted and counseled the economic industries of the two original townships (Datong and Nanao), as well as promoted the crops with native characteristics by combining the organic and friendly planting methods with the original township industries.
In 2022 NIU applied for 7 USR Hub programs, focusing on the aged health industry, green circular economy, forest and wood application, preservation of World War II literature and history, horticultural therapy, etc. After graduation, some students have participated in USR related courses, connected with the locals and actually applied the field experience to the workplace, which even attracted students to stay and work for the cooperative fields retaining excellent talents in the local areas and vitalize the local creation.
